Large well shaped blooms in luxuriant coral red contrast nicely with dark green foliage. As the name suggests this superb Hybrid Tea rose is richly scented and is a stunning addition to any garden. Entered in to the Rose Hall of Fame in 1981, this free flowering hardy variety is a great investment. We supply only top quality two year old Cambridgeshire grown rose bushes, bare rooted and wrapped to prevent roots drying out. These are pruned back and ready to be planted on arrival. Roses need deadheading in late winter or early spring, but to make the task more enjoyable you can simply cut the stems in bud and enjoy your roses indoors as with their long stems they make excellent cut flowers.

In 1937 Mathias Tantau, a nurseryman specialising in trees, became interested in breeding roses, starting with a Chinese rose called Rosa multibracteata. He was fascinated with roses and from here went on to become one of Germany’s most successful rose hybridisers and growers. Fragrant Cloud, brought to the European market in 1963, has to be one of his most successful winning The Royal National Rose Society’s Gold Medal in 1963, their President’s International Trophy in 1964 and The James Alexander Gamble Medal for Fragrance. Tantau Rosen is still a family run business.

Hybrid tea is an informal horticultural classification for a group of garden roses. They were created by cross-breeding two types of roses, initially by hybridising hybrid perpetuals with tea roses. It is the oldest group classified as a modern garden rose.
