Ontario Plum Prunus domestica An attractive large dual purpose yellow plum. Origin: USA 1874 Pollination: Ontario is self-fertile and a pollinator is not necessary for producing a crop. Ontario plum was raised by Ellwanger and Barry, Rochester, New York, USA and first described 1874. Was grown commercially in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. Medium large, round-oval fruit. Greenish yellow, bloomy skin giving the appearance of a very large greengage. Soft golden yellow flesh. Sometime a little fiberous. Good flavour as a dessert variety. Bruises easily. Upright, spreading tree. Hardy and self-fertile Fair cropping. Susceptible to bacterial canker and brown rot but resistant to plum rust. Supplied in a 3L pot.
